We are pleased to announce that the application submitted by our doctoral researcher, Sebastian Walczak, under Action D4 – University Grant System for Research Projects Carried Out with the Participation of Doctoral Students, has been approved for funding!
The project is entitled: “The use of GRACE data to analyse vertical ground displacement caused by hydrological changes”.
A prototype model will be developed to enhance the spatial resolution of GRACE satellite data using the Physics-Informed Neural Networks architecture, which is the approach combining machine learning with the laws of physics. The research will cover two types of study areas: delta regions and post-mining areas, where changes in groundwater levels drive ground surface displacement.
The project is carried out under the supervision of prof. Tomasz Stoch and dr Artur Guzy.
